Milan Lucic played with sinus infection. I feel vindicated
Milan Lucic struggled in the first round of the playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens. Something was clearly wrong with him as he looked “out of it” throughout the entire series. It was just weird that it was happening then. It’s the playoffs and Milan Lucic normally rises to those occasions. Why was he shying away and looking like he didn’t know an offensive zone from a defensive zone? My prediction at the time was that Milan Lucic was hiding an injury.
Well today, I’m right. Joe Haggerty from CSNNE is reporting that Milan Lucic was struggling through a sinus infection through the first round of the playoffs.
Lucic also said he was dealing with a sinus infection through the final regular season games and the first round of the playoffs, and it made him “feel like his head was in a fog” all the time.
Well, that checks out. An injury should never be the one and only excuse for why a player is sucking. I only just (kind of) forgiven Joe Thornton for playing like shit through a rib injury in 2004 and I probably would have been very angry at Milan Lucic if the Bruins ended up losing the Montreal series. Lucic still should have played better, end of story.
But I’ll believe the way he described the feeling, especially considering that’s how he looked on the ice. He looked lost like, oh I don’t know, his head was in a fog or something (oh hey!)
On my side of things. Whenever I talked about Lucic during the series, I always said “I think he’s hiding an injury. He doesn’t play like this” and everyone told me “You can’t hide injuries in sports anymore. Lucic just sucks cause he sucks and sucks some more”.
Well, it turns out, I was right and they were wrong. Suck it.

Yes, but when he had that he was playing better. The real question is what was wrong with him in the first round.
