Statement

It had to come down

Make no mistake, this is not a retraction of my statements. I still find it wrong to celebrate a second place medal on the same field where you just lost the championship. There are times for congratulations and pats on the backs after the fact, but the field where the loss had just occur is not the time for celebration. I shot from the hip. I spoke emotionally. I said what I said. There is no excuse.

At the end of the day, however, I believe what I believe and I have every right to do that. Thank you first amendment.

The official ruling on everything  is “circumstances outside my control”.

Benti you’re a douche still, regardless of taking it down or whatever! These girls played their asses off. So what if they lost. Wheres your medal or trophy? Keep your mouth shut next time! No one wants to hear your shit comments.

I wasn’t done reading all the hilarious comments about you!

you’re still a fucking asshole. We celebrated that we made it to the finals….. and i would like to point out you were fucking water boy when you were on the algonquin football team.

you are lame if you are even following algonquin after you graduated and your family moved.

    Fuck off

He said he was sorry…will everyone shut the fuck up

Not once did he issue a single apology. He restated his opinion and, by saying that circumstances outside his control forced the retraction, he essentially states that, if it were up to him, he would have left the post the way it was. In fact, this statement did everything but acknowledge counterpoints and say sorry.

So you’re saying that if you were on a sports team that hadn’t made it to the state playoffs ever you would not be happy on the field getting a medal that team had never received before? Ya ok I have a hard time believing that.

  9. Comment by hey benti...:

so basically…. ur a pussy and u took it down because you realized u made an idiot and a douche of yourself and just wont admit it…

  10. Comment by ass hole:

what are those ‘circumstances outside your control’ benti

    • Comment by Benti:

Foley, that doesn’t matter hence why I worded it that way. All you have to know (as I said) that it’s not me admitting I was wrong. I believe what I believe, no virtual yelling at me is going to change that.

Aww…all my hard work lost forever in cyberspace…
“the field where the loss had just occur is not the time for celebration.” – technically the field would qualify as a place, not a time.
“There is no excuse.” – good thing you bolded this. otherwise I wouldn’t have understood what you were trying to say.
    Don’t cry today, ok kiddo?

    i like him!!!

  13. Comment by Say sorry.:

You still owe these girls an apology

i don’t understand why he has to apologize. he (and plenty of other people) was saying it doesn’t make sense to rebound from a loss that quickly. obviously the team should be proud of their achievement but it just would have made sense to start their celebration later.
also i don’t really understand the benti hate. who cares if he wasn’t that great at football. he writes a blog about sports and he should be able to talk about sports. the argument “well you couldn’t have done it” makes no sense or else there could never be critics of anything. most of the good analysts on espn are the ones who never played while the old players just relive their glory days on air.
it seems like everyone got caught up in the fact that someone would criticize any aspect of a good season while ignoring the fact that the argument makes some sense, even if it might have been a bit harsh. honestly, the field hockey team comes away looking bad in my eyes just due to the fact that they lashed out at someone for something as trivial as this. if everyone just steps away from this for a minute they would probably see that the field hockey team had a great year AND benti/barstool make a point

As a life long athlete i’ve won many awards, championships, and somewhere along the way i developed a passion for the game. that same passion kept me from ever celebrating on a field that i had just lost on. I never walked off the field with a smile on my face after a loss. Come on people, everyone out there who knows anything about sports on a serious level has got to see where this kid is coming from. I dont think Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan ever celebrated coming in second place. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett didn’t go nuts on the court last year after game 7 did they? Am i missing something here? At least Chris had the balls to put his name on his feelings and he didn’t use the internet as an anonymous outlet for bashing a helpless young man and poking fun at every minor detail involving his youthful past. Wake up and realize who is truly acting childish here; Benti is a great kid with aspirations as a writer and he deserves your apologies, not the other way around. He wrote about something he felt passionate about and he has every right to do that. Welcome to the real world

He’ll never become a writer… he just sucks all around.
