Johnny Damon is going to remain a Tiger

After the Boston Red Sox claimed Johnny Damon off waivers, Red Sox nation waited to find out if Johnny Damon would accept a trade back to the team that he won the World Series with. Red Sox Nation was split. Some were ready to forgive and forget Damon for jumping ship to the New York Yankees in 2005 while some still felt betrayed that Damon, of all people, would go to New York because more money was being sent his way.

Well, all that debate was for nothing it appears as Damon has evoked his no trade clause and blocked a trade to the Boston Red Sox.

Red Sox fans will never know the reaction to seeing Johnny Damon back in a Red Sox uniform, but what does this situation say about Johnny Damon? There are two ways of looking at it. On one hand, Damon could have been worried about a return to Boston, worried that the reaction would not be what he expected and that the fans were not ready to forgive the jumping to New York. Or, Damon could have simply wished to finish what he started in Detroit.

Either way, Damon is still a Tiger and Marco Scutaro is still the Red Sox lead-off hitter.
