Sounds like a real life Sam Malone. Just keep it one day at a time, Josh. I really think the Sox are a ways away from having a core again. It took the celtics nearly a decade to rebuild. But, at least the yankme’s choked hard this year. Gotta look on the bright side.

I disagree with you. The reason why Ben “caved” in to Larry Lucchino in the Bobby V fiasco is because he had to. He is a young GM trying to make a name for himself. The fact that Lucchino was involved in the managerial search is a different story but in the end, your boss is your boss and there is nothing you can do about it. I also believe that this offseason Lucchino and the Owners have backed off a bit and are letting Cherington to do his job which they should.

Good article with sound advice. But, I’m not convinced the Sox aren’t in panic mode today. I’m not a big fan of Ben and therefore don’t see him leading the Sox back to their championship form. He didn’t stand up to Lucchino in the Bobby V. fiasco. He was on the right track in searching for a Francona replacement. But, he caved to his boss. What will happen now? Perhaps, the Sox should have started with a new GM.

Right on…the player is good ,but has a lot of baggage that the red sox can not withstand…..And Ben Charington, I do not believe has the authority to make the big decisions, presents his veiws to owners, but they ultimatly make the decision.
